Openers Joe Weatherley and Fletcha Middleton put on 163 in the Guildford sunshine to sweep Hampshire to a comfortable eight-wicket victory against Surrey and qualification for the Metro Bank One-Day Cup knock-out stages.Hampshire cruised past Surrey’s 203 all out from 45 overs in just 33.2 overs of their own, boosting their net run rate and keeping them in contention to top Group A and therefore earn a home semi-final. As it is, even if they fail to beat Kent at Newclose on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday, they have already made sure of second place in the group and the guarantee of a home quarter-final.Weatherley finished with exactly 100 and his partnership with Middleton was a first wicket List A record for Hampshire against Surrey, beating the 57-year-old mark of 128 set by Roy Marshall and Barry Reed at Bournemouth in 1966.Surrey were heavily beaten for the second time in four days at Woodbridge Road, following their ten-wicket defeat against Lancashire on Thursday. At least this time they took a couple of wickets, with slow left armer Dan Moriarty catching both Middleton and Weatherley off his own bowling.Middleton, who struck two sixes and six fours, was eventually out for an 88-ball 78 in the 29th over and Weatherley had just completed a fine hundred when he drove Moriarty low into the bowlers’ hands on 100, made from exactly 100 balls, with 14 fours. Tom Prest, who hit the winning boundary to take Hampshire to 206 for two, ended unbeaten on 24.In the field, Hampshire were spearheaded by Ian Holland’s List A career-best 5 for 35, with the all-rounder bowling his medium-paced seamers with great skill and control with both the new ball and, later, when wrapping up the tail.Opener Ryan Patel, who scored 78 from 88 balls with two sixes and six fours, was the only Surrey batsman to assert himself against a disciplined Hamphire attack. And Surrey’s failure to reach a more competitive total was perhaps the result of an unfortunate incident in the 36th over of their innings, when Patel pulled Keith Barker flat and hard for six behind square leg and the ball hit a child beyond the boundary rope.A number of players, including Patel, and the physios of both teams, went across to check on the child’s well-being – happily, he seemed to be fine and was soon receiving precautionary medical attention – and play was halted for a short time. That stroke had taken Patel to 75 but, in the next over, he still seemed affected by the incident and tamely lifted a catch to cover off Scott Currie and, from 173 for five before Patel’s dismissal, Surrey lost their last five wickets for just 30 runs in little more than eight overs.McKerr skied a catch off Holland to go for 18 and 19-year-old Tommy Ealham’s debut innings, a sketchy four off 16 balls, ended when the son of former England all-rounder Mark Ealham and grandson of former Kent captain Alan Ealham drove the same bowler to extra cover where Donald held on at the second attempt after athletically keeping the ball up with his knee as he fell to his left.Griffiths was comprehensively bowled by a full ball from Currie, for five, and the innings ended when Moriarty hit Holland high to mid off where Joseph Eckland judged a swirling ball well as he ran back towards the boundary edge.Dom Sibley had earlier helped Patel give Surrey a solid start, after Hampshire had opted to bowl first, before on 15 slicing to Barker at point off Holland. The seamer then had Rory Burns caught behind for 8 in an excellent new ball spell of 7-0-23-2, and Surrey were 68 for three when Ben Geddes (16) edged seamer Dominic Kelly to keeper Ben Brown, diving to his right.Steel followed seven overs later, for 14, hitting Currie to deep mid wicket, but at least Patel was then joined by Josh Blake in the highest partnership of the innings, 54 from 12 overs, to ensure Surrey had something to defend.Blake made 29 from 45 balls but was leg-before to Prest’s off spin in the 35th over as the Surrey batting effort tailed off to the disappointment of Guildford’s second sell-out crowd of 2,000 in four days.

Worth more than James & Mount: Chelsea hit gold on "world-class talent"

Chelsea supporters, whether they are England fans or not, may have celebrated when Reece James scored his first goal for his country during the international break.

The 25-year-old right-back found the back of the net for England with a sublime free-kick against Latvia in a 3-0 win for former Blues boss Thomas Tuchel.

James has endured yet another difficult season at Stamford Bridge, due to injuries, and it was a terrific moment for the full-back to get some confidence back with a phenomenal goal for his country.

The Chelsea academy graduate has missed a whopping 22 games through injury so far this term, making it the fourth campaign running with at least 20 matches out with injuries, as you can see in the table below.

Unfortunately, James has not been a reliable player for the Blues in recent years, due to his consistent unavailability, and that has taken a toll on his market value.

Reece James' market value in 2025

At the time of writing (01/04/2025), the former Wigan Athletic loanee’s Transfermarkt value stands at £25m, which places him 11th out of all the current players who graduated from the Chelsea academy.

His value has drastically plummeted in recent years because of his lack of availability, as the full-back has been unable to consistently showcase his quality on the pitch whilst dealing with seemingly constant injury issues.

The English defender had a market valuation of £58m back in November 2022 and this means that his value has dropped by a whopping £33m in the subsequent two-and-a-half years.

His peak market value, which was the aforementioned £58m, came just off the back of his exceptional form for Chelsea in the 2021/22 campaign, whilst being managed by current England boss Tuchel and Graham Potter.

As you can see in the clips above, James provided a big threat in the final third when coming forward from a wing-back or full-back position, as he had the ability to score and create goals for the Blues.

He ended the campaign with a return of six goals and ten assists in 39 appearances in all competitions, which helped to form his £58m market valuation.

His injury issues have caused that valuation to plummet and that has also been the case for another successful Chelsea academy graduate in Mason Mount.

He was valued at £63m by Transfermarkt in November 2022, at the same time as James’ peak value, and that has since dropped all the way down to £23m as he has missed 50 matches through injury since the start of last season for Manchester United.

Market Movers

Football FanCast’s Market Movers series explores the changing landscape of the modern transfer market. How much is your club’s star player or biggest flop worth today?

Once worth over £100m combined in 2022, James and Mount are now worth just £48m combined and neither of them rank within the top ten most valuable former Cobham stars.

How James' value compares to Chelsea's best Cobham graduates

Chelsea’s academy has housed some incredible talent over the years and not all of them made their breakthroughs at Stamford Bridge, as they left during their teenage years to go and shine elsewhere in England or Europe.

The most valuable former Blues academy talent, as per Transfermarkt, is Bayern Munich superstar Jamal Musiala, who is currently valued at a staggering £117m.

He never made a first-team appearance for Chelsea, having joined Bayern at U17 level in 2019, and the club may consider him to be one that got away from them.

As you can see in the table above, the likes of Declan Rice and Michael Olise, who have starred in the Premier League for Arsenal and Crystal Palace respectively, are also among the most valuable former Cobham starlets.

The only current first-team star for Chelsea in the top ten list is central defender Levi Colwill, who has been at Cobham in the academy since 2011 – joining at the age of eight.

Levi Colwill's soaring market value

The left-footed defender did not cost the Blues a penny, due to the age he joined the academy at, and has risen through the ranks to emerge as a key player for the first-team under Enzo Maresca.

Colwill did not immediately step into the senior side from the academy, though, as he followed in James and Mount’s footsteps by heading out on loan, playing for Huddersfield in the 2021/22 campaign and Brighton & Hove Albion in the 2022/23 season before his emergence at Stamford Bridge in 2023.

Chelsea'sLeviColwillcelebrates after the match

The young centre-back started 20 Premier League matches for the Blues and showcased his quality in the top-flight by winning 65% of his duels and making 3.2 tackles and interceptions per game, without making a single error that led to a goal or a shot for the opposition.

Colwill, who was described as a “world-class talent” by scout Jacek Kulig, has followed that up by starting all 27 of his appearances in the division this term, nailing down his place in the left centre-back role, and he has made one error that has led to a goal, whilst winning 58% of his duels.

As you can see in the table above, the England international’s value has soared since his spell on loan at Brighton, rising from £13m to £46m in under two years.

Colwill’s form at centre-back for Chelsea has led to him being the most valuable former academy player to currently play for the first-team, whilst being worth more than James and Mount – only £2m shy of being worth as much as both of them combined.

The 22-year-old star, who has produced defensive moments like the one in the image above, is a regular starter for the Blues and has only missed one game through injury this season, which shows that he has been a reliable figure on and off the pitch.

Chelsea have, therefore, hit the jackpot with Colwill because they have turned a player who cost them nothing into a first-team star whose value is soaring.

At the age of 22, there is still plenty more development to come from the left-footed star and the Blues will be hoping that he can continue to progress, rather than regress in value as Mount and James have.

Moore was one of the few bright spots in what was a sheerly disappointing season for Tottenham despite their Europa League-winning campaign. The 17-year-old made his debut under Ange Postecoglou in the Carabao Cup before being a presence off the bench in a number of Premier League and Europa League clashes. Moore has drawn attention from a number of clubs since, however, Spurs have managed to fend off all interest in the teenager.

Italian publication La Gazzetta dello Sport has reported that Juventus have now shown an interest in signing Moore this summer as they are keen on injecting young blood into their side and following a similar plan as they had previously executed with Kenan Yildiz.

DID YOU KNOW?

Juventus are also chasing the signing of Monaco star Eliesse Ben Seghir this summer, who has already established himself as one of the brightest prospects in Ligue 1 this season. The 20-year-old winger made a total of 46 appearances for Monaco in all competitions.

Tottenham will be wholeheartedly against the possibility of Moore leaving them this summer as they believe that the 17-year-old could be the next best thing in England. Spurs want to prioritise Moore's stay, and it is possible that an extension could be on the horizon despite him having signed a three-year deal last summer.

Sri Lanka look to seal Super Fours spot as Afghanistan await in batter-friendly Lahore

Big picture

Sri Lanka have played one game in the Asia Cup so far, and won it. But if things go awry against Afghanistan on Tuesday, they very well could be out of the tournament; such is the nature of it. But for that to happen, Afghanistan need to win – and win big. How big will depend on the precise match situation, but hypothetically speaking, if they were to score 275 runs batting first, they would need to win by a margin of at least 68 runs, or chase down any target in 35 overs or less.Suffice to say this gives Sri Lanka a pretty nifty buffer, especially on a Lahore surface that has been positively greedy for runs. This will also be, you imagine, quite a relief for Sri Lanka’s batters, who have over the past month – primarily during the LPL – been subjected to far less batter-friendly tracks. That said, the toss is likely to play a pretty major role. While the team bowling second might have to contend with dew, it’s an arguably rougher deal for the side bowling first as they would have to do so in the searing Lahore heat. Indeed, speaking post match on Sunday after their win against Afghanistan, Bangladesh captain Shakib Al Hasan brought it up unprompted as one of the key reasons they won that match, pointing out that it wouldn’t have been easy for Afghanistan to bat after fielding in that heat for 50 overs.Related

Match conditions aside, Sri Lanka facing Afghanistan should be a fairly even contest. Of the last five completed ODIs between these two sides, Sri Lanka edge it 3-2. And this is now a Sri Lanka side without pretty much their entire first-choice bowling attack. These sides, however, don’t tend to have too many nail-biters, with four of those five games ending in pretty dominant wins.If you’re of Afghan persuasion, that’s a promising sign; but you have to imagine the odds are still pretty heavily stacked in Sri Lanka’s favour. Against Bangladesh, Sri Lanka showed that even with injuries, they still possess enough firepower and nous to take ten wickets in a match, while Afghanistan still have to disprove the notion that their batting is a soft touch once you get past the top order.

Form guide

Afghanistan LLLLL (last five ODIs, most recent first)
Sri Lanka WWWWWRahmanullah Gurbaz has the propensity to either go big or go home•AFP/Getty Images

In the spotlight

Rahmanullah Gurbaz has been a part of every single edition of the LPL, so the Sri Lankans will be quite familiar with his game. Which means they’ll know that if allowed to proceed unchecked, he is a genuine match winner. Gurbaz also has the propensity to either go big or go home; in his last ten ODI innings, he has scores of 145 and 151, even as five others were in single digits. His highest score in that period aside from his centuries is 22. A firing Gurbaz is a must if Afghanistan are to complete this escape act.The nature of Lahore’s pitch means that any result is pretty much a shootout between each side’s respective batters, but in Maheesh Theekshana, Sri Lanka possess a secret weapon. Theekshana is as consistent as they come: in 23 ODIs, he has grabbed at least one wicket in all but five matches, while his economy rate has breached the five-runs-per-over mark just five times. The only caveat is that he has played all these matches either at home or in Zimbabwe, both providing conditions that have suited him quite nicely. In Lahore, he won’t have that luxury, but it’s a test he will most certainly relish.

Team news

Afghanistan’s bowlers struggled against Bangladesh, with the seamers in particular taking some stick. Noor Ahmad is an option to replace one of Karim Janat or Gulbadin Naib, while Riaz Hassan could also come in to freshen up the middle order.Afghanistan (probable): 1 Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), 2 Ibrahim Zadran, 3 Rahmat Shah, 4 Hashmatullah Shahidi (capt), 5 Najibullah Zadran, 6 Mohammad Nabi, 7 Gulbadin Naib 8 Karim Janat, 9 Rashid Khan, 10 Mujeeb Ur Rahman, 11 Fazalhaq FarooqiIf Sri Lanka play Kusal Perera, he could replace one of the two openers•AFP/Getty Images

Sri Lanka will likely head in with an unchanged XI, though if they were to include Kusal Perera in the side, one of Dimuth Karunaratne or Pathum Nissanka could make way. Dushan Hemantha also provides a wristspin option.Sri Lanka (probable): 1 Dimuth Karunaratne, 2 Pathum Nissanka, 3 Kusal Mendis (wk), 4 Sadeera Samarawickrama, 5 Charith Asalanka 6 Dhananjaya de Silva, 7 Dasun Shanaka (capt), 8 Dushan Hemantha/Dunith Wellalage, 9 Maheesh Theekshana, 10 Kasun Rajitha 11 Matheesha Pathirana

Pitch and conditions

Scores of 300 are par for the course in Lahore, with Bangladesh hitting 334 last time out without much trouble. The weather too is expected to be hot and humid, with highs touching 37 degrees potentially, although it should settle around 26 degrees by evening. Winning the toss and batting first seems a no-brainer.

Stats and trivia

  • A win would see Sri Lanka record a 12th consecutive ODI victory, the second-longest such streak in history. Pakistan (once) and South Africa (twice) have also won 12 in a row, while Australia hold the all-time record with 21 straight wins.
  • Sri Lanka have played 13 matches in Lahore, and won nine. Their win percentage of 69.23% is the highest of any side to have played at least ten games at the Gaddafi Stadium there.
  • Rahmanullah Gurbaz is 46 runs away from reaching 1000 ODI runs.

Zak Crawley keen for chance to test Bazball in India

England opener says tour in early 2024 will be “amazing opportunity” for Brendon McCullum’s side

    Matt Roller03-Aug-20232:26

Will James Anderson be involved in India next year?

A five-match series in India presents England with “an amazing opportunity” to test themselves – and their swashbuckling approach with the bat – in different conditions, according to Zak Crawley.England have a six-month break until their next Test match, which starts in Hyderabad on January 25. They struggled badly against India’s spinners on their most recent tour in early 2021, losing three consecutive Tests by heavy margins on turning pitches after winning the first game of the series.Crawley, who played two Tests in the 2021 series and made 67 runs, said that the unexpected choice of venues for the tour meant England were journeying into the unknown – but said that they will be equipped for any challenge, whether the ball seams or spins.Related

“I don’t really know much about their grounds,” Crawley said, after England’s win in the fifth Ashes Test. “Sometimes in India it seams and swings a bit – and they’ve got unbelievable seamers – so hopefully there are a couple of pitches there that are like that as well, that will suit us a bit more.”But if it’s spinning, I feel like we play spin really well as well. We’ll just have to adapt, see what we get. But they are pretty unknown grounds – I don’t know if they’re going to be raggers like Ahmedabad and Chennai, where we were last time.”Ben Stokes laughed off a question about whether England’s attacking style could work in India during his post-match press conference at The Oval, listing off all the previous occasions that his side had overcome doubts about their ability against other teams. “Who knows if we can do it against India?” he said, suppressing a laugh. “Only time will tell.”

Brendon McCullum, England’s Test coach, expects players and management to face “different challenges” over the next six months, with some involved in World Cup plans and others trying to keep themselves busy during a prolonged period of downtime. “Everyone will do it different,” McCullum said.”That’s just the nature of having split formats, I guess. For us, what will be really important for the time India comes will be trying to dial back into what we’ve achieved in the last 14-15 months, and to try and make sure the team turns up with the same clarity of thought when we go about things.”Crawley himself hopes to play some white-ball cricket over the break. He is due to represent London Spirit at some stage of the Hundred over the next four weeks, and will come into contention for England’s tour to the Caribbean in December.”I can’t remember having six months off [between Tests] before,” he said. “I’ll tick off a bit of T20 and hopefully a bit of white-ball stuff somewhere, but then [getting] back into it in India will be an amazing opportunity for our team to see how we go in those conditions.”He finished the Ashes as England’s leading run-scorer, and his aggregate of 480 runs was the highest by an England opener in a home Ashes series since Mike Atherton in 1993, who played six Tests. “I’m pleased with that stat,” Crawley said. “That’s a good one.”ESPNcricinfo LtdHe admitted that he would have considered it “quite unlikely” that he would have led England’s run charts before the series. “I’ve always believed in myself, so I knew I had some good knocks in me – but I’d say it was unlikely.”Crawley’s inclusion was scrutinised incessantly before the series. “I’ve never really paid much attention to that,” he insisted. “All I care about is what the coach thinks… as long as he keeps backing me, then that’s the only opinion I care about.”He made some minor adjustments through the summer – “I’ve narrowed my stance slightly, got my head slightly [further] forward” – but Crawley’s main focus has been “looking to be positive – which is something I haven’t quite done as well.” He added: “I haven’t quite committed to that in the past; I’m fully committed to that at the moment.”Perhaps the defining moment of Crawley’s series was the first ball he faced, crashing Pat Cummins’ opening delivery at Edgbaston through cover for four. He hit three boundaries off the first ball of an innings across the series. “A couple of them, I was trying to hit for four. I was trying to leave a statement,” he said.”The one second innings [at The Oval], for sure, wherever that was, I was going to try to hit that one. I just like to get off to a good start. Other times, I think it’s not quite there and I’ll get those singles which were on offer. I just want to get off to a good start and put them under pressure.”

Roony Bardghji: Barcelona-bound wing wizard who's already slain Man Utd in his teenage years

The Swedish starlet seems destined to follow in his namesake's footsteps to become one of the biggest stars in world football

"Roony! Roony! Roony!" You would have been forgiven for mistaking the Parken Stadium for the peak years of the Wayne Rooney era at Old Trafford as that famous chant rained down from the stands in November 2023. But this was not some tribute to the Manchester United legend; instead, Copenhagen's supporters were rather poetically mocking their esteemed guests and hailing their new hero at the same time.

Roony Bardghji had just crashed home an 87th-minute winner against the three-time European champions, aged 17 and 359 days. In that moment the teenager had thrust himself into the limelight, making history in the process.

The name Rooney is already etched into football folklore, but Wayne's near namesake seems destined to forge his own path. His path to stardom has been muddied since that breakout appearance against the Red Devils, but a bright future with Barcelona beckons nonetheless.

The reigning champions of Spain have agreed a deal to sign Bardghji on a cut-price €2.5 million deal after he entered the final few months of his Copenhagen contract, despite the awkward professing of his love for Real Madrid earlier in his career. At least he's claimed to be trying to emulate Lionel Messi rather than one of the Galacticos. Besides, all will be forgotten if he lights up the world in Barca colours.

    • Getty

      Where it all began

Although he holds Swedish nationality, Bardghji's life began 4,000km away in Kuwait, where he was born to Syrian parents. He would play football with his dad – a Manchester United fan, hence the name – from the age of three, but his journey began in earnest when his family emigrated to Scandinavia when he was seven years old. After excelling in amateur youth teams in the south of Sweden, he was plucked by Malmo in 2019.

Immediately it was decided that the then-14-year-old could mix it with the big boys, and he was subsequently thrown in at the deep end with the club's Under-19s – a step up that didn't faze him in the slightest.

"What mainly struck me was his dedication in wanting to get better and train," Malmo U19s coach Jeffrey Aubynn told . "Then, he had qualities in his technique, his game understanding and how he combined with team-mates which were at an incredibly high level considering his age."

But Bardghji hadn't just caught his coach's eye. He only spent a year with Di Blae before he was poached by Danish giants Copenhagen – Malmo's neighbours on the other side of the Oresund Bridge, despite being in another country altogether – in a murky deal that involved an astronomical signing-on fee and allegedly broke all unofficial rules for transferring youth players.

    • The big break

Bardghji maintained his status as an U19 player at Copenhagen, and by 2021 he had done enough to earn a call-up to then-manager Jess Thorup's first-team squad. Danish Superliga rules prevent players from making their senior debuts until they turn 16, and Thorup wasted no time in involving Bardghji – throwing the teenager into his starting line-up against AGF just six days on from his 16th birthday to make him FCK's youngest-ever player.

A week later against AaB, Bardghji made more history and truly announced himself at Denmark's biggest club. In what has become a trademark manoeuvre, Bardghji cut inside from the right before unleashing a strike into the bottom corner from 25 yards out, becoming the youngest goal-scorer in Danish top-flight history.

The prodigious youngster has remained in the first-team picture ever since, and another headline-grabber came when opposition from England came to town in November 2023 during the Champions League group stage. Copenhagen were already on course to take a highly creditable point from the mighty Manchester United, with the scores locked at 3-3 as the clock ticked towards the 90th minute at the Parken Stadium – but Bardghji had other ideas. After Harry Maguire and co failed to deal with an out-swinging cross, the attacker pounced on the loose ball and expertly lashed a shot into the turf that looped into the back of the net.

Not only had Bardghji bagged a famous winner, but he had also become the youngest player ever to score against United in the Champions League, and Copenhagen's youngest-ever scorer in the competition. Another historic moment, this time six days prior to his birthday rather than six days after.

That was the game that propelled him into the limelight, but it wasn't even his first big-game late show of the season. With FCK 2-1 down in the Copenhagen derby against city rivals Brondby back in September, Bardghji was afforded just 11 minutes to make a difference off the bench. The full-time score? 3-2 to Copenhagen courtesy of a five-minute brace from their rising star.

      How it's going

You'd be forgiven for thinking that fateful November was the ignition to Bardghji's long career at the top level. However, he hasn't been fortunate enough to kick on in the way the world had envisaged.

He spent the remainder of the 2023-24 season in and out of the Copenhagen starting line up, totalling 10 goals in 34 senior appearances, though notably not tallying a single assist. Then, disaster struck. During a routine training session in May 2024, Bardghji sustained a serious knee injury, which would rule him out for the following 334 days.

It was a hefty blow just as the winger was building momentum as one of Europe's top prospects, missing a whopping 48 games with Copenhagen. Bardghji eventually made his return in the Superliga championship play-offs on 31 March, 2025, making a nine-minute cameo in a 1-0 victory at home to Randers, but three further substitute appearances and two starts later, he was again ruled out for the season with a minor injury.

For the first time in two years, Bardghji will be able to prepare for a full campaign with a pre-season and decent period of rest under his belt. The hope is he can rediscover that sharpness and fluidity quickly, ensuring what happened in 2023-24 was the start of something significant and not merely a purple patch.

      Biggest strengths

As a tricky winger, it is perhaps unsurprising that Bardghji's most eye-catching traits are his dribbling and footwork, while his ability to find and manipulate space belies his tender age.

He is adept at keeping the ball, either through his carrying or by picking a pass at the right time. The early signs are that he possesses excellent vision, too, although that is yet to be reflected in his assist and key pass statistics. When surrounded by more premier talent and clinical finishers, they should shoot up.

Taking inspiration from his near namesake, Wayne, Bardghji proved himself a steady source of goals for Copenhagen during his ascendance and before that pesky knee injury. Though Danish club football is far from the pinnacle of the European game, he still has plenty of winners medals in his cabinet after playing a part in three Superliga triumphs and two cup victories.

Betis president Angel Haro and sporting director Manu Fajardo have opened up on the possibility of signing Antony on a permanent transfer, calling it a "very complex" process that will require them to be "creative" to get the deal done. Fajardo, however, makes it clear that the club won't be ruining its stability in the process of acquiring Antony from United.

Antony's resurgence at Betis was nothing short of a fairytale for both the club and the player. The Brazilian winger scored nine goals and provided five assists in 26 matches, which took the club to their first-ever European final. The winger's impact is recognised by the president and the sporting director, but they say they are not willing to jeopardise the club by overpaying for the Brazilian. Antony has reportedly even agreed to take a 30% pay-cut for the move to go ahead.

    WHAT FAJARDO SAID

Speaking on why Antony's transfer is complex, Fajardo said: "We all have to be aware that it's a very complex operation. Given the player's level, and his most recent career at Real Betis, it's not an easy operation. Despite being a complex operation, we will try to carry it out in different ways without mortgaging the club. In the end, the most important thing is also the sustainability of the entity. We will try to be creative, as we have been in the past, so that Antony can be here. Today the market is open, as I said before, it's very dynamic and we are part of that game."

Meanwhile, the club's president added: "We have to maintain the same financial rigor we've had up until now. Sporting sustainability is very important to us, of course, but also economic sustainability. We won't go crazy; we'll have a similar squad expenditure, perhaps a little higher than last year, and we'll be able to make some high-profile signings. But yes, something that has characterized Betis in recent years is that we sell well, and we also buy well, and at affordable prices."
