U.S. international Christian Pulisic endured a frustrating evening for AC Milan in the Serie A side's 3-3 draw against Cagliari, enjoying a flurry of bright moments but failing to materially contribute.

Starting once again as a No. 10, the American was rather starved for space, and was unable to affect play in the final third. The closest he came was a neat right-footed effort, which was parried to the feet of Tammy Abraham – who turned home to give Milan a 3-2 lead. That might have been the winning goal, but a late volley from Gabriele Zappa salvaged a deserved point for the home side.

Musah, for his part, had to watch most of the game from the bench, and was hardly involved in a 10 minute cameo – by which point his side had lost control of the game.

The result could prove to be costly for Paulo Fonseca's tenure as manager at AC Milan. The former Lille boss has struggled in his first season, and with his team outside of a European spot less than a third of the way into the season.

Milan's inconsistency through his first season at the club has led to multiple reports of him potentially facing the sack.

DID YOU KNOW?

Although his performances in the Champions League have impressed, Pulisic's production in Serie A has rather dropped of late. The American has now failed to score or assist in three straight in the Italian top flight. Milan have failed to win all three.

The American duo's attention now turns to USMNT duty. Both will likely be named in Mauricio Pochettino's upcoming squad for the U.S.'s Nations League quarterfinal tie with Jamaica. The first leg is set for Thursday in Kingston, while the second will be on Monday in St. Louis.

Phil Simmons: West Indies 'need to play spin better'

West Indies head coach Phil Simmons has said he is looking for vast improvements in the ODI side, particularly in the way they play spin. He shared these views after West Indies went down by 120 runs in the third and final ODI against Bangladesh, suffering a 0-3 series loss that laid the visitors’ inexperience bare.Of the 30 wickets they lost during the series, 13 were to spinners Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan, who averaged a mere 10.07 and conceded just 2.72 per over through the series.Related

Even though the Shere Bangla National Stadium’s pitch was said to be “difficult”, it played its best in the first innings, and West Indies batted first in the first two games. In the third ODI in Chattogram, where they encountered a seemingly flat pitch, West Indies never looked like threatening Bangladesh’s total of 297 for 6.”[I learned] that we need to play spin better,” Simmons said. “We need to be able to rotate strike and score boundaries in Bangladesh a lot better. There’s work to be done. Every time you have low scores, there is not enough character, heart, determination shown. It is all about putting everything out there and making sure things happen the way you want them to happen, and that’s not been done.”We need to improve on everything, in every area, after losing three games. Especially the runs that we put on the board. That’s something we have to work on from now, till our next series which is in March (against Sri Lanka).”Simmons however remained hopeful that West Indies could recover in the ODI series against Sri Lanka. He also marked out Akeal Hosein, the Trinidadian left-arm spinner who took a three-wicket haul on his ODI debut, as one for the future.”He is definitely a man of the future,” Simmons said. “To make your debut and to get three-for on your debut and then to have the kind of respect that you have gained in the last two games, it means that you are improving and doing something right.”We lost the first series but there’s a lot of series to play. We just need to make sure that we get [World Cup Super League] points from every series. From here now, the only way we can go is up.”

West Brom can cash in on star who’s worth more than Wallace & Thomas-Asante

West Bromwich Albion fans will have breathed a major sigh of relief when talk this off-season surrounding Carlos Corberan's future in the dug-out died down, with the likes of Leicester City sniffing around at one point for the popular Spaniard's services.

The Baggies boss has turned around the fortunes of the West Midlands club over the past couple of campaigns, from looking worryingly over their shoulder at the relegation spaces in the Championship under the dismal tenure of Steve Bruce, to the brink of a play-off final with the ex-Huddersfield Town man's expertise at the helm.

West Brom will be dreaming about an unbelievable Premier League return this season to come, with the 41-year-old manager well aware he can rely on a number of seasoned individuals in his camp to deliver the goods in the second tier again, such as the experienced heads of Kyle Bartley and Alex Mowatt.

He might not be able to keep a firm grip on Okay Yokuslu ahead of another promotion attempt, however, with many a suitor trying to tempt the Turkish midfielder away from the Hawthorns this summer, which would definitely weaken the Baggies in the centre of the park in the process.

Okay Yokuslu's situation at West Brom

Corberan and Co could be looking to cash in whilst they can for their 30-year-old enforcer, with his contract expiring next year, and fervent interest certainly there.

Both Besiktas and Trabzonspor were noted as being interested parties from his native Turkey, but further developments now suggest that the first named suitor has dropped out of the race to snap up Yokuslu, who has only attracted himself onto more shopping lists after a bright time out at the Euros with his nation.

Hull City could stand more of a chance at swooping in and landing the in-demand West Brom number 35 now, though, with limited competition now to fend off, with Hull vice-chairman Tan Kesler even admitting that Yokuslu is on their transfer target list recently.

It remains to be seen whether West Brom's hefty £5m valuation puts off Tim Walter's men, considering Yokuslu is nearing the twilight years of his career at 30 years of age, but the Tigers have been unafraid to splash the cash in the division before and could do so again.

West Brom midfielder Okay Yokuslu.

The Humberside outfit have spent some mega bucks on the likes of Jaden Philogene-Bidace in transfer windows as of late, with Yokuslu potentially their next splurge, and a worthwhile one at that when you consider his exploits in a Baggies strip to date.

Yokuslu's time at West Brom

West Brom must be thanking their lucky stars that they gambled on picking up Yokuslu on a free transfer when they did, bringing him in on a permanent basis in 2022, before he went on to become a dependable first-team head.

Last campaign, the no-nonsense 30-year-old was only absent from two clashes across the full Championship season, forming a daunting holding midfield duo with the aforementioned Mowatt, as the Baggies became known for being a resilient and dogged side whilst also boasting the likes of Brandon Thomas-Asante when venturing forward.

Looking at the table above, the Baggies will very much miss Yokuslu's grit and steel from the middle of the park if he does move onto the MKM Stadium this summer, with the Turkish star almost acting as a heartbeat for Corberan's men when fielded by the Spaniard.

The wanted Baggies number 35 even has a rocket of a shot in his back pocket if needs be, that will further intrigue his potential new employers in Hull, with this venomous effort against the Terriers last season nearly taking the net off.

Still, if West Brom can manage to gain £5m back by selling on the ageing midfielder this summer, all sentimentality surrounding how much his presence is adored at the Hawthorns will surely go out the window.

Selling Yokuslu on for this excessive amount would even see him become more of a valued asset than the likes of Wallace and Thomas-Asante, according to Football Transfers, and would end up in him becoming the most profitable talent from Corberan's camp currently.

Jayson Molumby

Therefore, nobody could begrudge the Championship side if they did decide to offload Yokuslu for this high amount, especially when you consider the Baggies are struggling in the market themselves to bring in new recruits, with £1m rumoured to be too much in West Brom's recent pursuit of Sorba Thomas.

Yokuslu's changing valuation at West Brom

If Hull do come in and win Yokuslu for this new amount, the Baggies' blinder in going after the 6 foot 3 brute for nothing continues to look like an absolute masterstroke.

Yokuslu is worth even more than both Wallace and Thomas-Asante with this new bumped up valuation above his head, despite both attacking players combining to score 17 goals between them in Championship action last season, as Corberan's men nearly tasted the sweet ecstasy of promotion.

Even despite these glowing numbers working in their favour, Wallace and Thomas-Asante are worth £3.9m and £2.2m respectively, when contrasted next to their in-demand teammate.

Looking at the table above at Yokuslu's fluctuating transfer values in the West Midlands, West Brom might be wise to cash in now, so not to regret banking a sizeable amount of money whilst they still can.

West Brom have been burnt by a key first-teamer potentially leaving for nothing very recently in the form of Cedric Kipre, who still hasn't agreed a new contract this off-season, and looks to be exiting this summer for nothing as suitors queue up to win his cheap services.

Okay Yokuslu

At least in this instance, West Brom can move on from their star number 35 leaving, knowing they at least bargained hard over allowing him to go.

That £5m could also go a long way in allowing Corberan to buy his next potential Yokuslu and reshape his squad to go one better and win promotion this time around, potentially competing with their ex-midfielder's new club along the way.

Ipswich now leading race for “ridiculous” star, imagine him & Hutchinson

Ipswich Town fans will be equal measures of nervousness and excitement at this moment in time, as the new Premier League season continues to sneak up on the Tractor Boys day by day.

The nerves will come from the fact Kieran McKenna's men will be entering into the top-flight as major underdogs, with the worry they could be turned over for fun when facing off against the division's elite clubs.

Yet, Ipswich have thrived with this label above their heads before when back-to-back promotions were won unexpectedly.

Of course, the Premier League is a wildly different proposition altogether away from the challenges of the EFL, but the Suffolk outfit will hope they can stay up against the almighty odds stacked against them, with rumoured signings like these potentially helping in their mission to beat the drop.

Ipswich leading battle for Championship sharp shooter

Ipswich do now look to be leading the race to sign last season's Championship golden boot winner Sammie Szmodics this summer, with a new £8.5m bid reported to have been made by the newly promoted side.

That's the case according to football journalist Alan Nixon, with the hefty fee needed to tempt Szmodics away from Blackburn Rovers reportedly too much for Leeds United to cough up, who have also been credited as an interested party for the ex-Peterborough United attacker.

Sammie Szmodics

Therefore, Ipswich could now be in the driver's seat over ironing out a deal for the deadly sharpshooter, with a resignation almost from Riversiders boss John Eustace that a bumper switch will take place at some point this frantic transfer window.

Supporters packed into Portman Road next season will be licking their lips at the prospect of watching the decisive attacker pull on a Tractor Boys strip, even when making the perilous step up a league, knowing he could strike up a devastating duo bombing forward with another new recruit in the form of ex-Chelsea youngster Omari Hutchinson.

What Szmodics can offer Ipswich

As can be seen watching the goal clip above, Szmodics excelled running through on goal like a man possessed last campaign, before firing home with unerring coolness.

Szmodics would end up registering 27 goals in league action for a Blackburn side that were constantly looked over their shoulder at the relegation spots in the Championship, leading to so many suitors this summer wanting to snap him up to take him away from Ewood Park.

The agile 5 foot 6 attacker linking up with Hutchinson next season could see Ipswich catch the Premier League off-guard, therefore, with the former Chelsea winger helping himself to 15 goal contributions on the way to McKenna and Co winning automatic promotion away from Szmodics' exploits near the lower positions of the division.

Hutchinson's ten strikes whilst on loan came about despite the promising 20-year-old only amassing 5.22 xG overall too, with Szmodics also outperforming his own xG of 22.36.

Therefore, when Ipswich have limited opportunities to fire home a strike next season against some tough opponents, the likes of Szmodics and Hutchinson could come in handy, if they can translate their lethal displays in the Championship to a trickier league.

Described as being "ridiculous" by football journalist Josh Bunting during his golden boot winning campaign, the current Blackburn man feels worthy of testing himself in and around English football's big boys now, as McKenna continues to assemble what he believes to be a team that can compete and potentially even stay up.

West Ham in the mix for Antonio upgrade who’s “one of the best strikers”

West Ham United will have a primary objective in mind ahead of Julen Lopetegui's first term at the helm: reclaim their place in European competition and look to push for a domestic trophy.

The club has a taste for gold after winning the Europa Conference League under David Moyes in 2022/23, but the chequered form of last season and Scotsman's perceived pragmatic style of play have beckoned in the new era.

There are several hurdles to be overcome in the transfer market, but the rumoured sparsity of coinage at the London Stadium could be mitigated by the sale of Mohammed Kudus, who has an £85m release clause in his contract and reportedly wants to leave this summer.

The Hammers must sign a striker this summer. Michail Antonio is ageing and started only 21 Premier League games last season while Jarrod Bowen cannot be expected to spend another campaign pulled away from the right wing to counter a lack of options – albeit, he does so convincingly.

West Ham transfer news

According to Sky Sports' Dharmesh Sheth, West Ham are among the growing list of Premier League. teams taking note of Jonathan David's situation at LOSC Lille.

The Canadian centre-forward is out of contract in one year and has been transfer-listed for £25m, having enjoyed several years of clinical success in Ligue 1.

Chelsea are believed to be the frontrunners at this stage but the Blues have a range of options to strengthen their frontline, and West Ham will hope to entice the player with a role of high importance in east London.

Jonathan David's season in numbers

David has scored 84 goals and added 18 assists across just 183 appearances for Lille – working out at a rate of 0.56 goal contributions per game – since signing from Belgian side Gent in a €30m (£25m) deal in 2020.

Last season, across all competitions, the 5 foot 11 striker scored 26 goals and supplied nine assists across 47 outings. He only bagged twice over Lille's opening 12 fixtures but found his shooting boots in November and has fired unceasingly since.

He's always been a sharpshooter but has reached new levels over the past two campaigns, ranking among the top 12% of centre-forwards in Ligue 1 last season for goals scored per 90 last season and the top 6% for pass completion too, as per FBref.

Furthermore, David's 0.9 key passes per game and nine big chances created (Sofascore) speak highly of his dynamic skill set, a product of that crisp passing ability referenced above.

LOSC Lille striker Jonathan David

Said to be "one of the best strikers in the world" by media personality Tony Marinaro, David has spent several years honing his craft in France and now has the striking quality and overall technical acumen to make a real impression in a division such as the Premier League.

West Ham would love to bring him on board.

Why West Ham should sign Jonathan David

It's pretty simple, in all honesty. West Ham desperately need a top-class goalscorer to ensure the transition in the dugout goes off without a hitch.

His demonstrably consistent level would give the Hammers the reliable talisman that they require to fight for a place in European competition, as well as boasting the depth to push through the levels in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

It goes without saying that he would replace Antonio as United's No. 1 figure at the front of the pack. The Jamaica international, aged 34, ranks among the top 17% of forwards across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for progressive carries and the top 14% for successful take-ons per 90, though among the bottom 40% for goals scored per 90.

Michail Antonio for West Ham

Entering the final year of his Irons contract, the veteran ace – West Ham's record scorer in the Premier League with 67 goals – is going to play a part under Lopetegui but he simply cannot be entrusted with the leading role.

David, however, has the robust and athletic skill set to make a real impression, especially as his link-up play eclipses the kind of ball-playing ability that Antonio possesses.

Antonio might be something of a charging bull at times, highly effective and utilising his brutish physicality to great effect, but he is limited when it comes to contributing effectively to advancing patterns.

Indeed, despite only completing 65% of his passes in the English top flight last term, the £85k-per-week forward created just 0.3 key passes per game. David, as discussed above, is making three times the creative passes in Ligue 1 while also proving to be one of the crispest distributors that European football has to offer.

David is still only 24 and ostensibly has several years until he hits his prime. That said, he's already proving himself to be a deadly goalscorer with the kind of expansive style of play to make a real impact in West Ham's team, perhaps even being the perfect man to take the baton passed onto him by Antonio.

Derby now "tracking" in-demand Premier League teenager ahead of loan move

Having already welcomed six fresh faces this summer, Derby County are now reportedly "tracking" a potential seventh in the form of a Premier League midfielder.

Derby transfer news

Finally back in the Championship, Derby intend to stay there at worst and perhaps even kick on towards the second-tier playoffs next season. In pursuit of doing just that, Paul Warne has enjoyed a busy summer of arrivals. Jerry Yates, Kayden Jackson, Corey Blackett-Taylor, Ben Osborn, Kenzo Goudmijn and, most recently, Ebou Adams have all arrived to hand the Rams quite the boost.

Adams returns to Pride Park on a permanent basis from Cardiff City, having enjoyed an excellent loan spell last season. He spoke about his ambition to progress ahead of the Championship campaign, telling RamsTV: "I think that's a target, it has to be for me, because last year I was doing alright, I guess.

"But I think for me it's important just to be consistent, keep putting in the performances I have been, because I know a bit of the level and it will be tough. We need to just enjoy the moment, like I said, Derby are back where they belong. Let's see what we can do. I'm looking forward to it, I can't wait."

Club chief confirms "interest" in 26 y/o star as Derby submit first offer

The former Cardiff man could yet be joined by a Premier League gem in midfield too. According to Darren Witcoop, Derby are now "tracking" David Ozoh ahead of a potential loan move from Crystal Palace this summer.

The defensive midfielder has impressed in brief appearances for Crystal Palace, becoming their youngest ever Premier League player, and could now get a season of first-team action at Derby.

"Excellent" Ozoh is ready for senior minutes

Having already broken a significant record at Selhurst Park, Ozoh now has the chance to progress even more on loan and starting most weeks. The midfielder even earned the praise of former manager Roy Hodgson last season.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson.

The veteran manager told the club's official website after his display against Manchester City: "I was really pleased with them. I thought David Ozoh was excellent. The ones that came on in the end, in particular Franca… he had a very good cameo. I’ve been expecting that.

"I’ve said to him on many occasions ‘when you get your chance ‘you’ll be okay’… Before that, we were reliant on [Jeff] Schlupp and Jaïro Riedewald, who did an excellent job for us."

Just 19 years old, there's no doubt that Derby now have the chance to land a gem in the middle of the park to add the additions of Adams, Osborn and Goudmijn this summer.
