Liverpool could hand 6ft 2 "Rolls-Royce" his biggest chance yet

Imagine if Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had succumbed to the pressure last season.

His dynasty was in disarray after a staggering nosedive from the high-octane, swift-breaking brand of football that had lifted the club toward illustrious heights. Heights that had restored a city, etched his name into Liverpool folklore.

The German decided that this was not to be the narrative that would define his tenure, and the sweeping summer changes to a sapped and sighing midfield have proved significant, altering the pathway Liverpool were headed.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

Klopp is now leaving but the Merseysiders have been revived and are competing for the Premier League and Europa League titles after clinching the Carabao Cup earlier in the term.

On Sunday, Manchester City host Arsenal in a clash against first and third; Liverpool will be keenly watching. But first, the Reds will host Brighton & Hove Albion in a must-win top-flight clash.

Liverpool have been hit with a catalogue of injuries but there is golden light at the end of that storm, with key members of the squad filtering back through.

Liverpool team news

Andy Robertson has avoided serious injury after hurting his ankle on international duty with Scotland, though it's likely that the 30-year-old left-back will be sidelined against the Seagulls.

Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip remain long-term absentees, while Alisson Becker, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Diogo Jota and Stefan Bajcetic will not be involved but edge closer to a return.

More positively, Ibrahima Konate is fit once again after missing the past few fixtures, while Curtis Jones could make his first appearance since the start of February.

A variety of senior options in the centre of the park is something Klopp has not quite had at his disposal over recent months, and he might now be tempted to make a tweak, with Dominik Szoboszlai, for all his quality, possibly moving to the bench against Roberto De Zerbi's men.

Why Dominik Szoboszlai could be benched vs Brighton

Szoboszlai hit the ground running and then some on Merseyside after joining from RB Leipzig last summer, Liverpool meeting the Hungarian's £60m release clause.

His power, skill and high-energy approach have been a perfect fit under Klopp's wing and this is reflected through his metrics, ranking among the top 7% of midfielders across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for goals, the top 3% for shot-creating actions, the top 19% for progressive passes, the top 4% for progressive carries, the top 17% for successful take-ons and the top 5% for blocks per 90, as per FBref.

Dominik Szoboszlai for Liverpool.

Across 33 appearances for Liverpool, the 23-year-old has scored seven goals and added five assists, with his dynamic performances in the engine room leading talent scout Jacek Kulig to describe him as a "magician."

These skilful, influential efforts have indeed been key to Liverpool's success but he's not the only star in that department and given that Wataru Endo and Alexis Mac Allister have been in such fine and fluid form across recent matches, Szoboszlai might find that he enters after the break against Brighton.

Especially when fellow summer signing Ryan Gravenberch is pushing for a starting berth after recovering from a setback before the international break.

Ryan Gravenberch's season in numbers

Of the four midfielders welcomed to Anfield last summer, Gravenberch has probably made the least significant impact so far, though at 21 years old the Netherlands international has showcased the innate ability that may yet see him flower into a leading midfielder.

Completing a £34m transfer from Bayern Munich last summer, Gravenberch's stock had taken a hit after a year in Germany offered little promise, with just three Bundesliga starts all season and criticism regarding his work rate off the ball and defensive deficiencies.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch

Still, Klopp saw the promise within this multi-functional player's skill set and while he has ebbed and flowed during his maiden campaign in England, there has been plenty to get excited about.

And this has been reflected through his showings thus far, grabbing three goals and two assists across 31 appearances, starting nine games in the Premier League.

Why Ryan Gravenberch should start vs Brighton

As per FBref, Gravenberch ranks among the top 6% of midfielders across Europe's top five leagues over the past year for shot-creating actions, the top 13% for progressive passes, the top 6% for progressive carries, the top 5% for successful take-ons and the top 6% for blocks per 90.

Given his stylistic similarities with Szoboszlai, added to the defensive security provided by Endo and Mac Allister, this might be the perfect opportunity to hand the Dutchman a starting role, especially with Liverpool hosting Sheffield United on Thursday evening before travelling to Old Trafford on Sunday.

Gravenberch, on his day, has been described as a "Rolls-Royce" of a midfielder by journalist Declan Carr, and while his displays in the Premier League have left much to be desired, Gravenberch need only take the soil of his efforts in the Europa League and cultivate a sustained level of performance on the domestic front.

As per Sofascore, Gravenberch has clinched three goal contributions from five games in Europe this term, averaging 2.2 key passes, 1.8 tackles, 5.0 ball recoveries and 4.6 successful duels per match.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch.

Such an all-encompassing array of abilities is part of the natural ability that Klopp knows, as does Gravenberch himself, no doubt, is yet to be harnessed to its full, latent but waiting for a breakthrough.

This crucial late stage of the campaign will call for rotation as Liverpool fight across two fronts, and while Szoboszlai is unquestionably one of the finest players on Liverpool's books, the 6 foot 2 Gravenberch must now take this opportunity to make his mark.

Jones and Bajcetic are both returning from injury layoffs and there is no better time for Gravenberch to prove that he has what it takes to make his mark and aid his outfit in the fight for silverware.

Afif Hossain and Mohammad Naim break into Bangladesh ODI squad

Soumya Sarkar doesn’t make the 15-member squad and is said to be taking a break for personal reasons

OUT: Soumya Sarkar, Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Anamul Haque, Farhad Reza, Taskin Ahmed

Afif and Naim are two of several changes that Bangladesh are looking into as they prepare to play 50-over cricket for the first time since July last year. Mashrafe Mortaza, who according to the BCB chief Nazmul Hassan will be playing his last series as captain, is back and so are Najmul Hossain Shanto, Liton Das, Al-Amin Hossain, Mohammad Saifuddin and Shafiul Islam. This squad has been picked only for the first two matches of the series. It had no place for Mosaddek Hossain, Sabbir Rahman, Rubel Hossain, Anamul Haque, Farhad Reza and Taskin Ahmed, while Soumya Sarkar is said to be taking a break for personal reasons.Mosaddek is injured but the others haven’t been in Bangladesh’s plans for some time now. Taskin is in the Test squad currently playing against Zimbabwe, but he didn’t make the XI. Rubel is an interesting exclusion though. He is usually considered a shoe-in for one-day games.”It is great to have Mortaza back as his experience and leadership is vital to our one day cricket,” chief selector Minhajul Abedin said. “Mohammad Saifuddin is also key to the team’s balance. We had to make certain adjustments in the last ODI series we had played in as a number of cricketers were unavailable due to various reasons but I am happy that we now have a fit pool of players to select from. Shanto’s current form in international and domestic cricket gets him into the team while Naim and Afif are also part of our long term plan for the shorter version.”Bangladesh will play the ODI series against Zimbabwe in Sylhet on March 1, 3 and 6.

Bangladesh set to tweak XI as Pakistan line up whitewash

Big picture

Pakistan’s dip in T20I form was a cause for concern, but they have shown signs of being dominant again with back-to-back wins over Bangladesh at home, the wins giving them an unbeatable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. The final game could be an opportunity to try out some new faces, but they would certainly want to make a statement with a series sweep. Not much has gone wrong for the home side in this series. They restricted Bangladesh to scores of 141 and 136 in the two matches, and then chased the targets down comfortably enough. The Lahore pitch hasn’t allowed for much flamboyance so far, but that shouldn’t bother a side that had lost eight out of their last ten T20Is before this series.Shoaib Malik and Mohammad Hafeez have made an impact with one good innings each, while Babar Azam led from the front in the second game. Shaheen Afridi and Mohammad Hasnain bowled well in both games, while Shadab Khan has mostly been on the mark. Newcomers Ahsan Ali and Haris Rauf have shown glimpses of their ability too.Bangladesh, though, look unsure of how to go about handling Pakistan’s bowling attack. It’s not so much a lack of skills, but with roles not being defined clearly enough – there are six opening batsmen in the squad – it hasn’t been straightforward for captain Mahmudullah and coach Russell Domingo.Their bowling, too, hasn’t come to the party, with senior quick Mustafizur Rahman guilty of erring in lines and lengths in the first two games. Their lack of a genuine spinner has also added to the lack of balance, as Bangladesh are a team that has always banked on spinners to do a lot of the work, even in T20Is.

In the spotlight

Babar Azam is the No. 1 T20I batsman in the world, and bounced back from a duck in the first game with an an unbeaten 66 in the second. Pakistan would want him to have another good game as they look for the whitewash.Mustafizur Rahman has taken just one wicket for 69 runs in the seven overs he has bowled in the two matches. His areas have been off on a slow pitch that the ball has at times gripped on, exactly where he is expected to be most effective. He needs to get it right in the final game.

Team news

There’s a strong chance that Amad Butt and Usman Qadir will get their international debuts.Pakistan (possible): 1 Ahsan Ali, 2 Babar Azam (capt), 3 Mohammad Hafeez, 4 Shoaib Malik, 5 Iftikhar Ahmed, 6 Imad Wasim/Amad Butt, 7 Mohammad Rizwan (wk), 8 Shadab Khan, 9 Haris Rauf/Usman Qadir, 10 Shaheen Afridi 11 Mohammad HasnainDomingo has said that Bangladesh will find space to field Najmul Hossain Shanto, Rubel Hossain and newcomer Hasan Mahmud.Bangladesh (possible): 1 Tamim Iqbal, 2 Liton Das (wk), 3 Mahedi Hasan, 4 Najmul Hossain Shanto, 5 Afif Hossain, 6 Mahmudullah (capt), 7 Soumya Sarkar, 8 Aminul Islam, 9 Shafiul Islam/Rubel Hossain, 10 Mustafizur Rahman, 11 Al-Amin Hossain/Hasan Mahmud

Pitch and conditions

The Gaddafi Stadium pitch has been difficult to score quickly on, though Pakistan did go past Bangladesh’s 136 for 6 with 20 balls to spare in the second game. The weather forecast isn’t great, as there’s a chance of rain.

Stats and trivia

  • With the late Abdul Qadir’s son Usman likely to make his debut in the third T20I, we will have an addition to the list of fathers and sons playing international cricket for Pakistan
  • In the last five years, Mahmudullah is the only Bangladesh batsman to have hit more than ten sixes in the last five overs of their innings in T20Is

Quotes

“I need to give everyone opportunity. We are 2-0 down in the series. The three boys who haven’t played will definitely come in and have a game, so that we can look at a few more options.”

Forest must now rue losing £51m Spurs target who’s perfect for Murillo

It is no secret that Nottingham Forest have been erratic with their dealings in the transfer market since their return to the Premier League for the first time in 20 years.

The club have completed 34 signings since promotion – the most of any side in the top division – but they have been hit-and-miss with those additions, with Forest having a huge turnover of players in recent months.

Brazilian defender Murillo has arguably been the club's best addition after his £15m move from Corinthians last summer, with the 21-year-old already being linked with a big-money move away from the City Ground.

However, despite his brilliant season at the club, Nuno Espírito Santo is yet to find a suitable long-term partner for the centre-back, with the likes of Moussa Niakhate and Andrew Omobamidele often joining him at the heart of the Forest defence.

The club may have missed a trick with one former player, as the ex-Red is currently being linked with a huge move back to the Premier League this summer.

Loic Bade's stats at Nottingham Forest

After a frantic first summer back in the top-flight, the Reds capped off the window by signing French defender Loic Bade on loan from Rennes until the end of the 2022/23 season.

The 24-year-old arrived at the club with a lot of potential but failed to make any lasting impact on the first-team picture during his stint in the East Midlands.

PSV Eindhoven's Ibrahim Sangare and Ismael Saibari in action with Sevilla'sLoicBade

Former boss Steve Cooper was constantly questioned about the Frenchman after he failed to appear up until the middle of October, with the Welshman claiming the youngster would have to "bide his time" before making his first appearance for the club.

However, after not making an appearance, Bade's loan was cut short, and he departed the City Ground in January, joining Spanish side Sevilla on loan with an option to buy.

Loic Bade's stats in 2023/24

After winning the Europa League title with Sevilla last season, the Andalusian side decided to trigger the £10m buy option in his deal, with the Reds certainly rueing his departure 15 months on.

The "elite" talent, as described by scout Jacek Kulig, has taken his game to the next level this campaign, showcasing his quality regularly in La Liga.

In his 23 league appearances during the current campaign, the defender has averaged 2.4 tackles and 1.5 interceptions per game – tallies that are both higher than Reds defender Murillo.

Bade's also dominated the Brazilian in the air this season, winning 3.1 aerials per 90, over double Murillo, who can only muster 1.2 per game in the Premier League.

Understandably, Bade has dominated defensively this season, with the 24-year-old possessing a more old-school approach with the Forest defender more of a traditional ball-playing centre-back, thus suggesting why the differing duo could have formed a dream partnership.

However, Bade also has the edge over the former Corinthians defender for pass completion rate and progressive passes per game – with Bade seemingly transitioning into the full package.

The Frenchman's excellent form hasn't gone unnoticed, with Tottenham Hotspur linked with a move for the centre-back this summer, but Ange Postecoglou's side may have to pay his £51m release clause if they are to bring him to north London.

One thing is for sure, Forest missed a huge opportunity to solve their defensive woes by not allowing Bade to flourish at the club, with the Reds subsequently paying the price.

He's proven that he's capable of producing on the biggest stages, as demonstrated in the Europa League, with Cooper making a huge mistake in refusing to play the talented Frenchman.

McAvennie warns Celtic to “be aware” of rumours he’s hearing from Rangers

Ex-Celtic striker Frank McAvennie has warned his former club to "be aware" of a potential transfer development happening at Rangers this summer.

Rangers eyeing summer signings

The Gers may be focusing on winning the Scottish Premiership title this season, but work will also be going on behind the scenes to complete some important summer transfer business.

Abdallah Sima has been an excellent loan signing from Brighton in 2023/24 to date, even though injuries have disrupted his campaign, with ten league goals coming his way to date. The Seagulls are happy to offload him at the end of the season, and it could be that Rangers strike a permanent deal for him.

Fabio Silva

Fabio Silva finds himself in a similar position, too, admittedly not impressing as much as Sima this season, but potentially leaving Wolves for good this summer, at which point the Gers could look to retain his services albeit for a larger fee.

Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland is seen as another top option to bolster Philippe Clement's attack, possibly even standing out as a superior player to both Sima and Silva. He leads the Scottish scoring charts so far in 2023/24, finding the net 20 times in the league.

McAvennie shares Shankland warning to Celtic

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie admitted that Shankland joining Rangers could be a great piece of business, and one that he could see happening.

"I don’t understand why the Shankland rumours are all over the place if there’s nothing in it. I think he would do well at Rangers. He hasn’t got the pace for England. Unfortunately for him, the Premier League is all about pace. But Shankland is a very intelligent player, he’s great with his feet. Has he got the pace to play in England? No.

"He’ll score goals in Scotland. I think it’ll be an interesting one if he goes to Ibrox – it’s a real step in the right direction and something Celtic will have to be aware of."

Regardless of what Rangers are planning with Sima and Silva this summer – Champions League qualification may need to achieved in order for them to afford at least one of them – Shankland should be considered a brilliant choice to come in and make Rangers' attacking even more fearsome.

The 28-year-old is now an experienced player who knows the Scottish Premiership inside out, and his performances this season suggest that he is a player who is coming right into his prime.

From a Celtic perspective, seeing the Gers snap up Shankland would be a big concern, at a time when Clement's men have not only narrowed the gap hugely on their rivals, but are also threatening to pip them to title glory.

Rangers must unleash "player of the season" in place of Silva

The Hoops should also be looking to strike a deal for the Scot, although the fact that the Hearts star is a boyhood Rangers supporter could quickly put paid to that.

Jadon Sancho: Central striker? Man Utd injury crisis putting England forward's Old Trafford redemption at early risk

The winger has been given an unexpected second chance to make a go of his frustrating Red Devils career but must now play out of his comfort zone

When Jadon Sancho was at the height of his exile from Manchester United, training by himself, forced to eat lunch alone out of tupperware and playing EAFC while his team-mates were in Champions League action, it was impossible to imagine that less than a year later he would be back playing for the club.

It was even harder to envisage him not just still being a part of the squad, but starting the season as their central striker. But the player who called his manager a liar 11 months ago and then refused to apologise to him, even if it was his best route back into the team, is now the Red Devils' best option for the Community Shield against Manchester City.

United begin the new season just as they ended the last one, against City at Wembley, where they staged a stunning 2-1 victory in the FA Cup final and became the first team in almost six months to beat Pep Guardiola's side over 90 minutes. Their team feels weaker now than then, though, despite spending close to £90 million ($114m) on two new signings. And that is illustrated by the fact that Sancho is likely to be leading their attack.

Getty Sancho vs Haaland

At Wembley, City will be armed up front with Erling Haaland, who scored 36 goals in his first Premier League season and 28 in his second. He has warmed up for a third consecutive assault on the Golden Boot by having an extended summer break while his contemporaries were at the European Championship or Copa America.

And he has been scoring for fun in the pre-season tour of the United States, even plundering a hat-trick against Chelsea. United, by contrast, will be relying on a forward who has hardly any experience of playing up front and even less positive experience of the role.

This is not how Ten Hag planned it, of course. Rasmus Hojlund hurt his hamstring against Arsenal and new signing Joshua Zirkzee has barely trained with the team. The manager has also seemingly abandoned the idea of playing Marcus Rashford through the middle, which did not go well at the start of last season. Rashford's revival over pre-season has confirmed the notion that he is best deployed from the left of the attack.

AdvertisementGetty ImagesHasn't worked before

There remains a possibility that Ten Hag does what he did in the last two games against City, and play Bruno Fernandes as a false nine. But he has hinted it will be Sancho, who started there in the final two games of the ill-fated U.S. tour, in the 3-2 win over Real Betis and the 3-0 defeat by Liverpool. The latter was not a particulary good advert for him in the role, as he failed to get into many positive positions, and the wide forwards Rashford and Amad Diallo had much better games.

Ten Hag actually experimented with Sancho as a false nine on the previous U.S. tour, just weeks before their relationship exploded in full view of social media. He had scored against Arsenal in New Jersey, but that was as good as it got.

And when the season started properly, Sancho was on the bench, playing just a handful of minutes before being left out of the squad for the trip to Arsenal, when Ten Hag let it slip that he had not been training hard enough, and all hell broke loose.

Getty/GOALFragile relationship

Little has happened in between to suggest that Sancho is now better equipped for playing up front or that his rift with Ten Hag has properly healed. The coach was adamant last year that Sancho must publicly apologise for his verbal attack, and was so adamant that he preferred to send him on loan to Borussia Dortmund than back down.

A private chat seems to have been enough to bury the hatchet this time, but for how long? The pair's agreement to put their furious spat behind them feels more like a ceasefire than a permanent peace process, and Sancho playing out of position will put this fragile relationship to the test.

Sancho did revitalise his career on loan at Dortmund, but it was playing on the right of the attack, with a clear focal point in Niclas Fullkrug to chime with.

Getty ImagesReinvention is risky

He rediscovered his dribbling ability while playing back in Dortmund, having barely demonstrated it at United, either under Ten Hag or Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Indeed, he only dribbled past a player seven times in 48 games with the Red Devils.

In one match for Dortmund against Paris Saint-Germain, he completed 12 dribbles, the most of any player in the Champions League since Lionel Messi in 2008. It feels like United should be trying to rediscover that version of Sancho, the thrusting, thrilling winger, rather than try to reinvent him in an unfamiliar position.

Sancho does not have the physique of Fullkrug or the power of Hojlund, and him playing as a traditional centre-forward is unlikely to cause City many problems. He stands a better chance as a false nine, although that still feels like it won't get the best out of him.

To be effective he will need to drop deeper into attacking midfield and pick out either Rashford, Amad or Alejandro Garnacho. Doing so runs the risk of him getting in the way of Fernandes or Mason Mount, who also has a point to prove after missing most of last season through injury.

Newcastle struck gold on "phenomenal" ace who’s worth more than Trippier

Newcastle United have been extremely unlucky with injuries so far this season, with Eddie Howe's side struggling to replicate the results of last campaign.

The club achieved the unthinkable by making the Premier League's top four, with the Magpies able to compete in the Champions League this season.

Newcastle defender Fabian Schar.

However, the congested fixture schedule has taken its toll on the playing squad, with key players such as Sven Botman missing for large spells this campaign through multiple injury problems.

The Magpies have a very thin squad as it is, with the injuries to first-team members seeing Howe resort to utilising multiple youth players this season.

Lewis Miley has been the main beneficiary of the club's injury crisis, with the youngster being able to make 17 Premier League appearances for his boyhood club this season.

However, despite the 17-year-old's impact on the Magpies squad, there's another product of the Newcastle academy who has featured heavily in England's top-flight this season.

Elliot Anderson's stats in the Premier League this season

21-year-old attacker Elliot Anderson, who joined the Newcastle academy at the age of eight, has impressed at St James' Park this season under Howe.

Anderson spent the 2021/22 season on loan at League Two side Bristol Rovers, with the Scotsman reaching 13 goal contributions in his 21 league outings – prompting the Magpies boss to keep him at the club last season.

He's progressed brilliantly in a short period, with Anderson featuring in the Champions League earlier in the season – a huge achievement for a player of his age.

Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson.

The youngster has gone on to feature 11 times in the Premier League during the Magpies' injury-hit spell, with Anderson coming away with an assist in the 8-0 demolition of Sheffield United earlier in the season.

However, the emerging gem has struggled with an injury of his own in recent months, with the former Bristol Rovers loanee being on the sidelines since October with a back problem.

Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson.

Anderson returned in the 3-0 win over Wolves at St James' a couple of weeks ago, with the Scotsman forward also coming off the bench in the 3-2 defeat against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Elliot Anderson's market value in 2024

Despite his lack of game time in 2024, the 21-year-old's market value has skyrocketed with Anderson having the potential to be a huge asset in the years ahead for the Magpies.

As per Transfermarkt, the "phenomenal" youngster, as dubbed by former Rovers teammate Alex Rodman, currently has a market value of £11m, a figure that is higher than key first-team member and captain Kieran Trippier, with the 33-year-old now only worth £9m, despite registering ten league assists this season.

Leeds now set to sell £40,000 p/w player in permanent transfer this summer

As the dramatic race for automatic promotion reaches its crescendo in the Championship, Leeds United have already started turning some of their attention towards the summer transfer window, with a ruthless decision reportedly set to be made.

Leeds transfer news

Once promotion is decided, Leeds' transfer plans will become far clearer. With the promise of Premier League football, Daniel Farke could welcome a number of fresh faces to leave his side in the best possible position to earn survival and much more in the top flight. If they fail to go up, however, then the Whites could be in for an incredibly difficult summer.

Leeds struck gold signing hero who'd be worth £21m in 2024 money

Leeds United adored this goalscoring hero throughout his time at Elland Road.

ByKelan Sarson Apr 21, 2024

Already, the likes of Crysencio Summerville have been linked with moves away following an excellent campaign and promotion failure would hardly help those at Elland Road keep hold of such stars.

As things stand, the Yorkshire club have the chance to move into second in the Championship on Monday when they face Middlesbrough on Monday, but will then face pressure from Ipswich Town, who will have a game in hand with just a matter of weeks remaining in the season. Things are set to go down to the wire, but that pressure hasn't stopped Farke from making a ruthless decision.

According to Pete O'Rourke of Football Insider, Jack Harrison is set to be sold this summer in a permanent deal following his loan spell at Everton this season, with Farke looking to keep faith with his current wingers rather than turning to the former Manchester City man.

It remains to be seen just how much those at Elland Road will demand for Harrison this summer and whether it will be Everton or another option who lead the race for his signature, but Leeds will at least clear his reported £40k per-week salary from their wage bill.

Harrison's inconsistent loan spell at Everton

Whilst Harrison was once a reliable Premier League option at Leeds, scoring five goals and assisting a further seven just last season, he has struggled to find consistency at Everton with injuries playing a part in that.

During his time at Goodison Park, Harrison has been involved in just six Premier League goals with three goals and three assists to his name in a side still battling to avoid relegation. Still only 27 years old, however, the winger could yet come good in Merseyside or elsewhere to prove Leeds wrong this summer.

Sean Dyche may be among those hoping to see Everton take advantage of Leeds' transfer decision, having been full of praise for Harrison from the off this season, saying via Liverpool Echo: “I must say I think Jack Harrison has done fantastically well, he has only just had that game the other night with the development side and he said he felt fine, he said he was ready, and I believed him.

"He looked ready, he was training freely. But to come in and play at this level with hardly any return to real football is very, very pleasing for me as a manager and him as a player."
