Bangladesh will be looking to follow up their comprehensive rout of Zimbabwe in the first two ODIs at the Queens Sports Club by sealing the five-match series tomorrow. Bangladesh’s batting line-up, led by the enthusiastic Shakib Al Hasan and former captain Mohammad Ashraful, has brought extended relief to the side in limited-overs cricket with bigger challenges ahead. And therein lies the key to Bangladesh’s success – how well they have batted in recent times.Bangladesh find themselves from winning their third ODI series in a row. A win at Bulawayo will be their eighth in a row, which will be one short of their record best in ODIs. The visitors find themselves on top at home again, under an energetic captain. Zimbabwe can take some solace from the fact that, chasing 321, they managed to post 271 despite four key batsmen – Mark Vermeulen, Hamilton Masakadza, Chamu Chibabha and Brendan Taylor – failing. Bangladesh – WWWWWWatch out for…Sean Williams’ decision to come out of self-imposed retirement last year – he cited frustration but returned to play in the Sri Lanka series – can only be a good thing for Zimbabwe. Against Bangladesh, Williams averages 28.28 in 15 matches with five of his ten career half-centuries coming against this opposition and in the last game he showed his liking for Bangladesh’s attack. A clean striker of the ball but equally adept at rotating the strike through sensible batting and excellent running between the wickets, Williams remains a vital player as Zimbabe push to save the series.
In the absence of three leading bowlers, Mashrafe Mortaza, Abdur Razzak and Rubel Hossain, Bangladesh’s spinners have stepped up admirably in Zimbabwe. Spin accounted for five wickets in each of the first two games, with the host batsmen struggling especially against the slow stuff in the series opener. Charles Coventry and Williams tonked it around in game two chasing a huge total but the spinners held their nerve and pulled Bangladesh back to script a win. Despite their current success, West Ham always appear to be on the lookout for new signings, and Brown has revealed an insight into Moyes’ current approach. Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the journalist claimed that the Hammers boss is eyeing up younger signings in order to plan for the future.

He outlined: “Moyes has said over and over again in public and in private to us that he’s trying to build a younger, hungrier side that can grow.”

The Verdict: Shrewd approach from Moyes

This is a refreshing update from Brown, as it shows that Moyes is very much looking at the long-term picture rather than just putting together a team for instant gratification.

The 58-year-old clearly sees that this is a wonderful opportunity to build something special at West Ham, with a great team at his disposal currently but also one which will eventually need freshness added to it.

Signing younger faces and integrating them into the squad makes total sense, allowing them to hopefully mature into key performers as they learn from more seasoned professionals who have grown into core players at the London Stadium.

The Lowdown: Conte bans ketchup and mayonnaise

As per The Athletic, both ketchup and mayonnaise have removed from the food menu at Spurs after Conte decided to ban the two condiments.

He is thought to believe that some of his players are overweight, so he has taken a similar regime to one he enforced at Chelsea back in 2016, when he decided to ban ketchup as well as pizza, fizzy drinks and brown sauce.

Speaking to Football Insider, former Premier League striker Phillips was left fuming when he heard the news. The 48-year-old raged:

“When I look at what Conte has done, banning ketchup and mayonnaise, it’s ridiculous.

“How many times have I seen managers doing that? For me, it is complete and utter nonsense. Managers just want to make changes when they come in.

“It makes no difference whatsoever, banning sauces. It just annoys people. I’ve been at clubs when managers have taken something away and players’ backs are up straight away.

“You cannot tell me having a bit of ketchup on your lunch at dinner time will affect your performance.

“Some managers demand that though and you have to respect it.”

The Verdict: Stamping authority

The fact that Conte is implementing his own ideas and methods early in his reign, however ‘ridiculous’ Phillips thinks they may be, means that he is stamping his authority on the club, which can only be a good thing.

Just look at his track record. At Chelsea, after implementing his ban on certain food and drink, he won them the Premier League title in the 2016/17 season, and the FA Cup the year after (Transfermarkt).

It shows that his methods work, and there is no reason why he cannot enjoy success at the Lilywhites, who are desperate to secure another major trophy having not won one since 2008. If these are the small first steps to be taken towards lifting silverware, so be it.

Ijaz Butt, the Pakistan Cricket Board chairman, has said that India are open to playing bilateral series at neutral venues, and that the ICC has agreed to factor it in in its Future Tours Programme (FTP) post 2012.The PCB had earlier complained that the original FTP excluded India-Pakistan Test tours because of the Indian government’s decision to put bilateral tours on hold after India’s scheduled tour of Pakistan last year was called off.”It is natural that governments of both countries will have to approve any cricket series but there have been efforts to revive Indo-Pak cricket and India has shown interest in playing on neutral venues,” Butt told .”We have received a fresh draft of the FTP which is two blocks of four years each, from 2012 to 2016 and to 2020. In it we have Tests, one-dayers and Twenty20 matches with India.”The terror attacks in Mumbai in November jeopardised India’s tour of Pakistan and relations between the two countries. The Indian government directed the BCCI to call off the tour alleging that Pakistan were involved in those attacks. Pakistan cricket was jolted again in March when the touring Sri Lankans were attacked when travelling in the team bus in Lahore in the middle of a Test match. With teams refusing to tour the country in the immediate future, the PCB has explored the option of playing in neutral venues and Butt said that India was welcome to the idea.Butt added that the FTP will be on the agenda when the board meets with the ICC next month in South Africa. “We need a busy FTP in order to survive and playing against India is the top priority, and that’s why we demanded changes in the FTP,” Butt said.Pakistan and India last played a bilateral series in 2007-08 in India, with the hosts winning the Test and ODI series. India last toured Pakistan in 2005-06, losing the Tests 1-0 and winning the ODIs 4-1. The teams have never played a Test at a neutral venue.
