In a recent interview, former defender Alan Hutton has backed Glasgow Rangers to land Joseph Okumu this summer.

So far this season, Okumu has highly impressed over his 24 Allsvenskan appearances for IF Elfsborg, with the centre-back helping his side keep six clean sheets, as well as making an average of 2.7 interceptions, 1.3 tackles and 4.7 clearances per game, culminating in an average SofaScore match rating of 7.20 – ranking him as the club’s third-best performer in the Swedish top flight.

And, according to Football Insider, Steven Gerrard’s side have made an approach to sign the £1.08 million-rated 23-year-old this summer, something which Hutton, in a recent interview with the same website, threw his backing behind, suggesting that Okumu could be the latest gem that the Gers scouting team have unearthed.

He said: “You could go through the Rangers team and list off the gems. You would say the scouting team is working. We all believe in it. They’ve done enough over the previous years for us to trust in them. If they’ve been scouting a player, they haven’t just done it like, ‘We’ll just go and watch that player for a couple of days.’

“They’ve been meticulous in everything that they do; watching games, watching footage, what kind of character he is. I think they like to go into depth with all the players and all the signings. Therefore, I would 100 per cent put my trust in them.”

With Filip Helander being linked with an exit from Ibrox this summer, as both Leicester City and Aston Villa thought to be keen on the Gers defender, it would appear a very real possibility that Gerrard will have to replace the Swede in the upcoming transfer window.

And, judging from his displays for Elfsborg so far this season, it would certainly appear as if the 6 foot 3 Okumu is a prime candidate to do so, and, if Rangers do manage to get a deal over the line for the 23-year-old, perhaps he could be the latest gem the Gers scouting team have unearthed, as Hutton suggests.

A Ponte aposta no bom futebol mostrado nos empates diante do Atlético-MG, um dos candidatos ao título brasileiro, na Copa do Brasil. A equipe de Campinas esteve muito próxima da classificação, mas acabou eliminada ao ceder o empate no jogo de quarta.

Então é isso que tem que ser levado. Essa motivação. É continuar, corrigir os erros que cometemos, amadurecer com eles e restam 12 jogos, em que temos objetivos pela frente – disse o técnico Eduardo Baptista, que renovou com o clube até o fim do ano que vem.

A tendência é que a Ponte tenha pelo menos três novidades em Curitiba. O volante Wendel e o atacante William Pottker são certezas no time, já que não podiam defender a equipe na Copa do Brasil, e Jefferson será o titular na lateral direita, pois Nino Paraíba foi vetado com dores musculares. A zaga seguirá sendo formada por Antônio Carlos, mesmo com Douglas Grolli retornando de suspensão. A dúvida está no meio. Galhardo, com dores no tornozelo esquerdo, não é certeza entre os 11.

– O Atlético é uma equipe que se impõe, que vem para cima e deixa espaços. Temos que saber jogar, marcar bem, mas também na hora que eles deixarem os espaços, saber aproveitar porque temos condições de pontuar lá. Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie believes his old club will be aiming to play in the Champions League in the near future.

While qualifying for the Europa League still looks like a possibility for the Villans this season, that final Champions League spot is probably out of reach, with quite a few teams standing between them and fourth place.

Going forward, though, Hendrie expects the club’s owners, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, to eventually demand Tuesday and Wednesday night football at Villa Park, a demand he can understand.

On Villa’s ambitions for the future, the retired Premier League footballer told FFC in an exclusive interview:

“Players have got to buy into what the club wants to do, you know, they’re not going to just jump straight into the Champions League. I’m pretty sure that will be one of the main targets for the football club [however] with the owners having such wealth.

“That will certainly be a key thing. Where they want to be at is that they’re playing in Europe because that’s where the club should be at.”

While this season may come too soon, Villa are at least on the right track to becoming a competitive side again.

Last season, Dean Smith’s side ran Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City close in the Carabao Cup final, narrowly losing out in a 2-1 defeat at Wembley. That, and their league position this term, gives reason to be optimistic.

برشلونة أراد ضم اللاعب على سبيل الإعارة حتى نهاية الموسم مع خيار الشراء، لكن النادي الهولندي رفض رحيله إلا في صفقة انتقال دائم.

الجدير بالذكر أن برشلونة كان قد تعاقد قبل يومين مع جناح ولفرهامبتون أداما تراوري، على سبيل الإعارة حتى نهاية الموسم.

Many Arsenal fans have been slamming the display of Alex Lacazette in their 1-1 draw with Slavia Prague in the Europa League on Thursday night.

تحدث عصام الحضري مدرب حراس مرمى منتخب مصر، عن التأهل لدور نصف النهائي من كأس أمم إفريقيا 2021، كما أوضح موقف الثنائي محمد الشناوي ومحمد أبو جبل من الإصابة قبل مواجهة الفراعنة المقبلة أمام الكاميرون.

منتخب مصر انتصر على المغرب بهدفين لهدف، في مباراة دور ربع نهائي أمم إفريقيا، خلال المواجهة التي أقيمت اليوم الأحد.

In a recent interview, Noel Whelan claimed that it is inevitable Harry Kane will leave Tottenham Hotspur this summer.

According to a report by Football Insider four days ago, Tottenham sources have revealed that Kane has told people close to him that he is “100 per cent thinking of moving on” from Spurs this summer, even if the club go on to win the Carabao Cup at the end of April – which would represent the first trophy of the 27-year-old’s career.

And, in a recent interview with the same website, Whelan stated that he is convinced the England international will leave north London at the end of the season, which would plunge the club further into chaos.

He said: “We know the inevitable is happening and that’s Harry Kane leaving. The players sense that as well, there seems to be a lot of negativity at Tottenham this season. The players don’t look like they’re enjoying it at the moment and it’s only going to get worse when Kane leaves.”

While Whelan appears rather certain that Kane will be moving on to pastures new at the end of the season, transfer expert David Ornstein recently stated that it seems “incredibly unlikely” the striker will be able to secure a move away from Tottenham this summer, due to the fact that Daniel Levy will be demanding at least £120 million to “even consider” parting with the 27-year-old.

It would appear as if, whether Kane likes it or not, he could well be staying at Spurs for the foreseeable future, but Whelan is just the latest in a long line of pundits and media outlets seemingly queuing up to claim the talisman will leave.
