Crystal Palace supporters have not always enjoyed what they have seen at Selhurst Park since Roy Hodgson’s appointment as manager back in 2017.

A coach whose approach to the game is a very cautious one, the south London club can be dull to watch at times under the 71-year-old.

As well as that, they often struggle in general when Wilfried Zaha is not playing, with the 26-year-old being the man who has bailed the team and his manager out of trouble time and again.

With Zaha eager to leave Selhurst Park this summer (Sky Sports), though, that is something the Eagles may no longer be able to rely on, which would put the spotlight firmly on Hodgson.

Is the former England boss really a good coach and tactician? Can he oversee a Crystal Palace rebuild and guide the Premier League outfit to results without their current talisman?

There are a lot of questions that Hodgson, who already has his doubters, will have to answer.

From his perspective, though, it does not have to be a negative thing. Ultimately, it is the ex-Liverpool manager’s chance to show his credentials as a coach and move Crystal Palace away from this image of being a one-man team.

Can he do it? Only time will tell, should Crystal Palace actually sell Zaha, of course.

قال ميكيل أرتيتا المدير الفني لفريق آرسنال الإنجليزي إنه تأذى من تصريحات مسعود أوزيل التي أشار فيها إلى أن استبعاده من الفريق لا يتعلق بمصلحة النادي.

تم استبعاد صانع الألعاب الألماني من قبل أرتيتا ولا يشارك مع الجانرز، أوزيل ليس جزءً من تشكيلة أرسنال المكونة من 25 لاعبًا للدوري الممتاز أو الدوري الأوروبي، ويبدو من غير المرجح أن يرتدي قميص أرسنال مرة أخرى قبل انتهاء عقده في يونيو.

ورغم كفاحه لإحداث تأثير مع أرسنال في المواسم الأخيرة، ما زال الرأي منقسمًا حول ما إذا كان يجب على أرتيتا إعادة أوزيل إلى الملعب، لكن المدرب يصر على أنه يفعل فقط ما يشعر أنه صائب.

وقال أرتيتا لقناة “beIN Sports”: “أنا متضرر لأنني لا أحب أن لا يملك أي لاعب في فريقي إمكانية المشاركة أو المنافسة، بالنسبة لي إنه أمر محزن حقًا لأنني لا أعتقد أن أي شخص يستحق ذلك”.

وأضاف: “ولكن في نهاية المطاف، أجلس هنا لاتخاذ القرارات التي  في رأيي هي الأفضل للنادي، وهذا ما يجب أن أفعله”.

لم يظهر أوزيل مرة واحدة تحت قيادة أرتيتا هذا الموسم، ويبدو أن مدربه ليس لديه أي خطط لتغيير قراره.

وأكد أرتيتا: “اللحظة التي تخسر فيها مباريات كرة القدم سيظهر اسمه، وعندما تفوز لن يحدث ذلك”.

عندما سئل عما إذا كانت هناك فرصة أخرى لأوزيل، أجاب أرتيتا: “حسنًا، يمكن للجميع وأعتقد أنه منذ وصولي إلى هنا، ترى من أين بدأ بعض اللاعبين وأين هم الآن، تغيرت حياتهم المهنية تمامًا وقد حصلوا على هذا الحق، أعطيناهم الفرص واستغلوها”.

وأتم: “مع مسعود في الوقت الحالي، مع قائمة الفريق من الواضح أنه لا يمكن المشاركة، أحاول أن أكون واضحًا قدر الإمكان معه ومع جميع وسائل الإعلام والمشجعين لأنهم يستحقون معرفة الأسباب، البعض سيتفهم والآخر لن يفهموا ذلك بسبب ما فعله للنادي”.

When it comes to reviewing this season’s signings, you can easily say that the youngest member of the pack has been the most impressive for Arsenal.

Matteo Guendouzi joined the Gunners as an unknown 19-year-old from the French second division, but within a few weeks, the midfielder was starring week-in-week-out for Unai Emery’s side and looking like a Premier League natural and a player who could man the Arsenal midfield for years to come.

The youngsters’ success has not only made Arsenal fans excited about the future, but has also made supporters more hyped than usual when youngsters are being linked this summer with a move to the Emirates, and Danny Loader is no different.

According to Goal, the Gunners are interested in the Reading striker who only has a year left on his current contract and has already attracted some big clubs around Europe, such as Juventus and Chelsea.

The 18-year-old attacker was promoted to the Reading first-team in November of last year and has remained a mainstay in the squad since then, starting eight games and featuring in 23, scoring once, and if Arsenal are to aim for younger players and build for the future, Loader could be a starting block.

Although the club already have Eddie Nketiah, Loader has the potential to go all the way in football after making a name for himself in the Championship at such a young age and being valued at £450,000 on Transfermarkt, the Gunners could be landing a coup in the teenager.

With so many teams interested in Loader, Arsenal needs to ensure they are the side winning the race to land the striker’s signature, and after the success of Guendouzi, there’s no reason to believe the Reading attacker can be the next youngster to light it up in north London.

You know the transfer window is open for business when West Ham are linked with every player under the sun.

It is set to be a massive summer for the Hammers, with players expected to leave and even more likely to join. Every area of the pitch could do with some work, and for Manuel Pellegrini, finding the perfect members for his side will be his utmost priority for the next two months.

With a limited budget to work with, it could be a summer where West Ham gets players in on the cheap, and the latest rumours have the east London side linked with a newly crowned Premier League winner, just not one that will get Hammers fans off their feet.

According to Football Insider, Pellegrini is eyeing up a move for City Swiss Army knife Fabian Delph, who could leave Manchester this season after a lacklustre campaign of sitting on the bench and being subject to only eight Premier League starts.

Whilst the England international’s versatility could make him a useful player in both the midfield and defence for West Ham, if the club wants to progress, they should be avoiding the likes of Delph this summer.

The former Aston Villa captain won’t be the player to score the goals or create chances in the attacking third, which you can argue is what West Ham need the most this summer, not a defensive minded player.

Delph’s experience and ability to play multiple positions might make him a solid signing on the cheap, but the England international isn’t a marquee ‘wow’ signing that fans want, nor the man to win those vital points for West Ham next season.

Chelsea absolutely bossed the midfield in their impressive 4-1 Europa League final win over Arsenal last week.

Mateo Kovacic and N’Golo Kante (who did not look injured!) were superb, with the former key in the west London club’s attacking play on the night.

But when it came to winning the ball and dictating the tempo of the game, a certain Jorginho was the real MVP and has since sent a message to his critics.

“They were not used to seeing a player with my characteristics before the defence,” Jorginho said when speaking about his doubters in a recent press conference for the Italy national team (Calciomercato).

“At that moment, when the results did not arrive, it was to point the finger. I always believed in what I do “I continued to work so hard. The work came out and I proved that they were wrong.”

When things went wrong for Chelsea, as Jorginho has pointed out, everyone was quick to single him out. But what was the 27-year-old to do about David Luiz’s crazy defending, Antonio Rudiger’s constant fouling that led to free kicks and Gonzalo Higuain missing sitters?

Make no mistake, Jorginho has been made a scapegoat. He is criticised for everything and praised for nothing despite bringing a lot to this Chelsea team.

It is a myth that he does not make tackles and cannot recover the ball, you only have to look at the Arsenal game to know that. When you consider that and his quality when in possession, Chelsea have a really good midfielder at their disposal and it is time people realise that.

According to Football Insider, Leeds United have rejected a loan offer for their wantaway playmaker Samu Saiz.

It’s no secret that the Spaniard wants to leave Elland Road this summer, but the Yorkshire club are absolutely making the right decision in holding out for a permanent deal.

What’s the story?

Football Insider have reported that Leeds have turned down a loan offer for Saiz from an unnamed La Liga side. It had previously been said that Getafe, Alaves and Valencia were interested in his services, but it is unknown at this moment which team has made a move for him.

The 28-year-old spent the second half of last season out on loan at Getafe, but Leeds seemingly don’t want to let him go unless they’re getting a fee.

Right decision

Leeds are undoubtedly making the right decision on their former talisman’s future.

The midfielder’s contract has two years left to run on it, so if the Whites don’t sell him in this transfer window, they may not get as high a fee next season.

The Whites need to recoup as much cash as possible as their recent transfer policy has shown that they aren’t able to spend money unless they sell players.

Saiz is still one of the most talented players in the Championship, and even though he’s unhappy at the club he should still fetch a decent price.

Allowing him to go out on loan only to sell him 12 months later would be a stupid decision as it looks like he is well and truly finished in English football.
