Tottenham now agree deal to sign £50m star, he's jetting in for a medical

Tottenham Hotspur have now agreed a deal to sign a “remarkable” £50m star, who is now jetting into London to complete his medical.

Tottenham set for busy transfer deadline day

Having finally managed to get a deal for an attacking midfielder over the line last week, with Xavi Simons arriving from RB Leipzig, Thoma Frank is now looking to strengthen multiple other areas of his squad on transfer deadline day.

In terms of new defensive options, Manchester City’s Manuel Akanji and Liverpool’s Joe Gomez have emerged as potential targets, although it remains to be seen whether the Reds are willing to sell the Englishman, having called off a move to AC Milan, while Akanji himself could be heading to Italy to sign for Inter.

At the opposite end of the pitch, Spurs may feel a need to bring in a new forward, having drawn a blank in their most recent game, losing 1-0 against AFC Bournemouth in what was a disappointing display, recording one of their lowest xGs in recent memory.

As such, it may be a relief to hear that Tottenham have now agreed a deal to sign a new forward, with Randal Kolo-Muani set to sign on loan from Paris Saint-Germain, according to a report from The Sun.

Kolo-Muani is now set to jet into London to undergo a medical, before completing a move to north London, in what will be a straight loan move, which does not include an obligation or option to buy.

Tottenham frontrunners to sign "perfect" £9m+ a year star with Kolo Muani

It could be a busy final few hours for Spurs.

1 ByCharlie Smith Sep 1, 2025 "Remarkable" Kolo-Muani could be exactly what Tottenham need

Signing the PSG forward on a permanent basis would be a costly operation, with the French club thought to be looking to receive £50m+, whereas bringing him in on loan makes the move very low-risk, given that he is proven at the top level.

While the 26-year-old has been unable to force his way into Luis Enrique’s plans, he performed very well on loan at Juventus last season, chipping in with eight goals and one assist in 16 Serie A outings.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt man also impressed considerably during his time in the Bundesliga, with Lothar Matthäus saying: “He has remarkable technical ability, he’s ice-cold in front of goal and he really throws himself into challenges. The most impressive thing is that he’s performing in every game.”

With Tottenham looking bereft of ideas going forward against Bournemouth, failing to create a big chance throughout the match, it makes perfect sense to bring in a new forward on deadline day, and Kolo-Muani could be ideal.

Quais clubes ele passou? O Lance! responde.

Livres no mercado!

Wagner to retire from NZ domestic cricket after final round of Plunket Shield

Wagner will remain active as a player in county cricket in England

Neil Wagner, 39, will end his domestic career in New Zealand after playing for Northern Districts (ND) in the final round of the four-day Plunket Shield, which will begin on March 29. Wagner will have a fairytale finish if he can win the game and secure the Plunket title for ND.Heading into the final round, his team ND are currently on top of the table with 89 points from seven games. Wellington (82) and Canterbury (80) are the other two teams in the running for the title.Wagner, though, will continue to remain active as a player in county cricket in England.Wellington seamer Ian McPeake, meanwhile, will retire from all professional cricket after their final-round Plunket Shield game against Canterbury at the Basin Reserve.Wagner’s emotional reaction – he was almost in tears – after ND had lost to Canterbury in the Super Smash Eliminator last month suggested that his career was nearing its end. At the post-match presentation, ND captain Jeet Raval refused to reveal if Wagner had played his last competitive match in New Zealand. As it turned out, Wagner returned for the Plunket Shield, his match haul of four wickets helping ND snatch the lead with a narrow win over Wellington. In a twist of fate, Wagner’s final game in New Zealand will come against his former team Otago in Dunedin. Wagner had played his maiden first-class match in New Zealand for Otago vs ND back in 2008 at the same venue.

Since 2005-06, Wagner has 560 first-class wickets in 133 games in New Zealand at an average of 27.03. No other bowler has more first-class wickets than Wagner in New Zealand during this period. According to available records in the Plunket Shield, only Stephen Book (492), Ewen Chatfield (370) and David O’Sullivan (368) have bagged more wickets than Wagner (365).Wagner, who was born in and grew up in Pretoria, decided to pursue cricket elsewhere after missing out on selection at different levels in South Africa. Wagner initially mulled moving to England, but ended up moving to New Zealand in 2008. Four years later, he became eligible to play for New Zealand in international cricket and went onto become one of their greatest fast bowlers – and one of the best exponents of the old ball across the world – along with Trent Boult and Tim Southee. He was a vital part of the New Zealand team that won the inaugural World Test Championship (WTC) title in 2021.Wagner’s domestic retirement in New Zealand comes just over a year after he had ended his international career. At the domestic level, Wagner represented ND and Otago across 17 years.Like Wagner, McPeake has a chance to retire with the Plunket title. McPeake has played 55 first-class games so far, picking up 152 wickets at an average of 29.86. McPeake also played 50 white-ball games for Wellington.”It’s been an incredible honour to represent Wellington,” McPeake said. “For a long time, I just wanted to get one game, so to have had the privilege to play for so many years and be a part of many incredible matches is something I’ll cherish forever.”Through the years I’ve been very fortunate to have rubbed shoulders with some of the best cricketers and blokes. It’s often said that the best memories you’ll hold on to aren’t always from the field but it’s the time in the changing room celebrating. While reflecting on my time, I see a lot of truth in that.”

Leeds brewing biggest homegrown talent since Gray in "exciting" 18-year-old

One thing that the current Leeds United squad seems to be lacking is the next great academy product. Centre-back Pascal Struijk is a graduate of their academy, but at 26 years of age, he is firmly established in the first team.

18-year-old Scottish attacker Sam Chambers has played for the senior team, but has not even been on the bench this season,

Of course, over the last few years, some excellent players have come through the Leeds academy system and made it to the first team. Kalvin Phillips is one name who springs to mind, becoming a key player in the midfield at Elland Road before moving to Manchester City.

The other player who fits the bill was Archie Gray.

Archie Gray’s career at Leeds

The 19-year-old is arguably one of the most successful academy graduates at Elland Road in recent years. He has deep family ties to Leeds, and came through their academy before breaking into the first team.

In total, the versatile midfielder, who was born in Durham, played 52 games for the club. All those appearances came in the 2023/24 campaign, a season in which he chipped in with two assists.

After a successful debut season in professional football for Gray, the youngster, who can also play at right-back and did so 30 times for the Whites, secured a big transfer. He joined Tottenham Hotspur in 2024 for a fee of around £30m.

Since moving down to North London, the 19-year-old has played 48 games for the Lilywhites. He’s once again shown great versatility, playing full-back on both sides, at centre-back and in his natural midfield role. Of course, Gray was also a Europa League winner last term.

Since Gray, Leeds haven’t had a top academy prospect break into the first-team squad and establish themselves. Well, perhaps the next big thing is waiting in the wings.

Leeds’ best academy talent since Gray

Certainly, if Gray is able to break through under Daniel Farke and become an established first-team player, the same door could be open for future academy talents on the books at Elland Road.

Well, perhaps sooner or later, that player will be Scotland youth attacker Lewis Pirie. The versatile forward joined Leeds back in 2023 from Scottish outfit Aberdeen. After starting out in the under-18s side, he’s broken into the under-21s this season.

In his first two full seasons as a Leeds academy player, his record shows why he is considered such an “exciting” prospect. At least, that is a word that former Aberdeen manager Jim Goodwin used to describe him.

Indeed, Pirie has played 29 games for the club over the past couple of years. In that time, he’s found the back of the net on seven occasions, and assisted one goal, too.

Having played 1701 minutes, he has a minutes per goal and assist record of 213 minutes.

The 18-year-old is has already built up a strong reputation for himself. He can operate on both flanks and up front, and has even played deeper as a number 10 for the Leeds academy.

As we saw with Gray, Farke loves versatility, which could be a key difference to helping him reach the first-team.

With the versatility he offers and the clear goal threat he can bring to the table, Pirie could be the perfect option if Farke wishes to bring another academy star into the first team at Elland Road.

It will be fascinating to see if the Whites boss will look to bring through another young talent into the frame. If so, that player could very well be Pirie.

Their next Raphinha: Leeds star could soon steal the number 10 from Piroe

Leeds United may have their next Raphinha in the making at Elland Road.

Arsenal summer signing injured with Madueke as Arteta confirms another lay-off

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was a dealt a significant blow last weekend after in-form summer signing Noni Madueke injured his knee in the 1-1 draw with Man City on Sunday, meaning he could now miss up to eight weeks.

Noni Madueke set to miss at least 10 Arsenal games after injury

The 23-year-old hadn’t managed a goal or assist in Gunners colours prior to his lay-off, but it’s safe to say Madueke has been Andrea Berta’s most impressive summer coup thus far alongside young defender Cristhian Mosquera.

While Mosquera seriously impressed in William Saliba’s absence, Madueke was being a menace for full-backs in the attacking areas – with his burst of pace, trickery and inventiveness in the final third showing exactly why Arsenal splashed £52 million on his signature.

There were huge question marks aimed at Arteta and Berta’s decision to sign the England international after a mixed spell at Chelsea, including from Gary Neville, but the Sky Sports pundit is now among critics to admit they were wrong.

The ex-Eredivisie sensation could have hardly asked for a better start to life at the Emirates Stadium, putting the ‘#NotToMadueke’ movement firmly to rights, but he’s now set to miss a host of crucial games for Arsenal.

Madueke managed to avoid an ACL tear, which in itself is excellent news. However, the winger could be out for a maximum of two months and a minimum of six weeks, meaning he won’t be available for at least 10 games.

There is a chance Madueke will be back for the North London derby against Tottenham in November, and Arteta will be optimistic that is indeed the case as he seeks to end Arsenal’s two-decade-long wait for a Premier League title.

Arsenal also without Piero Hincapie after groin injury

Madueke isn’t the only summer signing with fitness issues either, with Arteta now confirming that defender Piero Hincapie has picked up a groin injury.

The Ecuador international was a surprise absentee from Arsenal’s matchday squad against City, and their manager has shared why.

The 23-year-old was signed with Mosquera as a quality back-up for Saliba and Gabriel, not to mention a defender who can play full-back as well.

Hincapie is highly-rated after two impressive seasons with Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga, and was a regular in Xabi Alonso’s famous, domestically unbeaten double-winning side from 2024.

Hincapie has barely played since joining from Leverkusen on loan with a £45 million option to buy, so he’ll be looking to convince Berta he’s worthy of the purchase option at the earliest opportunity once fit and available.

How can PBKS get the best out of Chahal?

Shreyas Iyer called correctly as an unchanged Punjab Kings (PBKS) elected to bat against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad in IPL 2025.”The mindset has been to be aggressive from ball one,” he said. “We’ve seen that we don’t have a fantastic record in the powerplay, we have to see to it that we don’t have that at the back of the mind and play the ball on the merit.”We just need to stay in the present, be brave and bold with our approach and our attitude has to be top-notch. Harshal Patel was fit again and back in the bowling XI, having missed the last game because of an illness. Jaydev Unadkat had played on that occasion and goes out for today.”We feel like we can chase down anything,” Pat Cummins said. “It’s not been an ideal start but we’re training well and are in a good place.
